The museum is a foundation consisting of the Western Götaland Regional Council, Uddevalla municipality and the Bohuslän Local Heritage Association. Since 2006 Bohusläns museum is part of Västarvet – the administration for the nature and cultural heritage of Västra Götaland. The museum has about 300 000 visitors per year. The assignment is to preserve, cherish and present what characterizes Bohuslän as a coastal and border district. The museum is also widely known for its extensive activities and programmes, free entrance and generous
opening hours.
